Is The Path You’ve Chosen Killing You?

20130702-124204.jpg

It’s not too late to start again. You get to choose the road you take, and you get to choose how long you stay on that path. If you’re finding yourself on the wrong path today, I encourage you to STOP, change direction, and start journeying down the right path. In reading The Word, you will find much encouragement and direction for your journey. You’re not in this alone. There are brighter days ahead!

Take a minute or two and read Psalm 103, I think you will find it very helpful. 🙂

My prayers are with you on this journey to growth!

You are blessed,

Sarah

Today’s devo selection:

A NEW ROUTE
By: Joel Osteen

I know people who feel like they’ve wasted years of their lives because of poor choices. They spent years in a relationship that was toxic, years with an addiction, years at a job where they weren’t fulfilled. But you have to realize, nothing you have been through is ever wasted. Your past experiences, good and bad have deposited something on the inside of you. Those challenges have sharpened you to help make you who you are today.

When the enemy brings hardship into your life, God has a way of taking that experience and turning it around for your advantage. You may think you’ve hit a dead end, but if you’ll stay in faith, you will see God begin to open up a new route. He’ll put the right people in your path, the right opportunities, the right circumstances to move you forward toward your God-given destiny.

Today, don’t focus on what’s happened in your past, focus on what God will do in your future. He wants to restore your soul and revive your dreams. Keep believing, keep expecting, keep hoping because God has a new route for your future!

Prayer:
Father God, I come humbly before You today. I give You my past, present and future knowing that You will redeem my life. I release those who have hurt me, I choose forgiveness so I can be free to move forward in the new route You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Scripture:
He forgives your sins—every one. He heals your diseases—every one. He redeems you from hell—saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal. He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence. (Psalm 103:3-5 MSG)

Count it All Joy!

20130523-231125.jpg

Sometimes it takes a whole lot of determination to embrace new seasons in life. I do ok for a bit and then, BAM, find myself in tears. Oops! Refocus, Sarah!

The enemy is always on the prowl, looking for an open door, window, or crack in the foundation. I find, for myself, that if I notice the enemy creeping in, I have to quickly push him out and seal up the area he slithered into. Then I have to get back to praising! If I don’t, I only find myself in worse shape.

The Word says we are to count it all joy when we are tried and tested, for the trying of our faith will work patience in our souls.

I realize tears are ok. They cleanse us! And as one my fellow bloggers wrote (I’m paraphrasing), “It’s ok to cry, Jesus cried!” It’s not the crying that’s the problem, it’s the reason behind it that may be the problem. Are we crying and wallowing in self pity for that which we’ve lost? Or, are we shedding tears while acknowledging the feelings associated with the situation, but choosing to consider the trial a joy – Knowing that the fruit of overcoming these trials will far outweigh any temporary sadness.

The Lord turns everything for the good of those who love Him. So we can be confident that there is no trial or season that we go through where He won’t find a way to bring good out of it. And, remember, you’re not in this thing alone, ask Him for help!

No matter what comes my way, I’m going to continue to count it all joy. Because, at the end of my days, I want to be able to say I enjoyed life, even when it wasn’t easy. That I chose to see the best in every situation, and trust in His faithfulness.

Don’t give up, friends. Victory is around the corner. Keep on keepin on!

James 1:2-8
New King James Version (NKJV)
Profiting from Trials

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

God’s Love Fills Gaps and Gives Hope
by Harvey L. Diamond

God is love. His love is perfect. Human love on the other hand is imperfect and leaves gaps. Orphans know that. For whatever reason, they have been abandoned by their parents. The bond of love between parent and child has been broken. Automatically there is a love gap. God sacrificed His Son to fill in every human gap. That’s a picture of His love. He leaves no prisoners to the bondage of abandonment. He is always there. ”I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18). Where do you need a touch of God’s love?

RELEVANCE
When I was 7 my mother died. A bond of love had been broken. Something was missing for a long time, but I didn’t know what. At 19 the LORD demonstrated in a real way that He had been there in a way I never knew. Coming to the knowledge of His love brought a measure of peace. He revealed a way of access to His grace in a way I had never imagined. His faithfulness captured my heart, and in faith, I became a believer. It brought a new kind of hope I thought didn’t exist. I re-connected to life; His life!

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:1-5).

REFLECT AND RELATE
What gap exists in your heart? Let the LORD fill it with His love; a kind of love that brings peace and hope. Ask Him to demonstrate the reality of His love. Ask Him to reveal how He is there—now—with you.

Music to Your Ears

20130508-090656.jpg

I wanted to share a video with you today. (I can’t figure out how to embed the video, so I will just put the link in below.) It’s sung by Fernando Ortega, with a reading throughout by Anne Graham Lotz. It is so inspirational, and comforting. Put the rest of life on pause for a few minutes, and allow yourself to really listen to the words she’s speaking, you won’t be sorry! It’s helped me countless times over the years.

Life Lessons on the Monkey Bars

20130428-231013.jpg

The act of using Monkey Bars requires a few things.

-Climbing a small ladder

-Leaning out to take hold of the first bar

-Letting go of the ladder as you swing to the next bar

-Keeping focus on the finish line (looking UP)

-Not looking back

-You can’t do it with only one arm – you must give it full attention

-Keeping your feet up off of the ground so they don’t drag

-The will to finish

There is a verse that goes along with the Monkey Bars process perfectly..

I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
~Philippians 3:13-14 The Message

We all have “monkey bars” to cross in life. We can cross them in joy, knowing Who crosses them with us, or we can cross them in sorrow, refusing to acknowledge the progress we’re making. Or, we can even climb down the ladder and refuse to cross the monkey bars all together..missing the opportunity to grow in Him.

Today I want to encourage you to take that first swing on the monkey bars, trust in Him, and enjoy the journey. You can do it! When you make it to the other side, you will find you are stronger, that callouses have been built making it a bit easier to cross the next set of “monkey bars”. You’ll also realize you now have added tools and knowledge in which to help others who are just starting their journey.

Make it a great day, no reason not to. It’s, afterall, all up to you!

Blessings,

Sarah

Praise Brings Victory!

20130308-085934.jpg

No matter what else is going on, we’ve got to remember to get out of a state of misery, and back into a state of praise. If we are busy offering praise, we don’t have time to wallow in misery. I think this is something we have to consciously do, I don’t believe it will ever just naturally happen 100% of the time. After all, He said in this world we would have trouble! They key, though, is what we do with that trouble. Do we wallow, or do we praise. If we determine to praise, and not give up, or grow faint, we will find ourselves soaring on wings of eagles.

Trouble can’t win against praise! We are more than conquerors! We can do ALL things through Him who gives us strength! There is no weapon that will prosper against us! But we must look up, keep our eyes on Him, and PRAISE!

Blessings,

Sarah

Today’s selection:

Lord God, Mighty God, Worthy God!
Awesome God!

Your Love for me reaches into Infinite places.

I have nothing to offer but Praise. I Praise for the good times and I Praise for the less than good times. I Praise for the answers I have received and I Praise for the questions that remain. I Praise for the moments I feel Your presence and I Praise for the moments You feel far away.

Today, I know God is always here — in me, as me, for me; rooting and standing for my highest success and guaranteed victory.

Today, I know God, there is only an illusion of need, because You alone are my Source and supply.

Today, I know in the rough places, God is there with me. Today, I know in the tough places, God is there with me. Today, I know, God that every crooked place has been made straight.

Today, I know, God that every road that I have taken; in spite of my intention, errant thinking and disobedience, has led me back to You.

Thank You God!
Thank You God!
THANK YOU GOD!

To You I offer Praise!

As I lift my hands, I open my mouth to shout “Hallelujah”! Hallelujah to the Omniscient One! Hallelujah to the Great I Am!

Today, I pray that my offering is accepted.
I let it be so and So It Is!
