Lyrics:

Last night when I was sleeping
You were watching over me
While I dreamt about tomorrow
You knew my every need
Now another day is waiting
For me to make it through
And there’s no way that I could face it without You
Before the day slips away
I want to stop and say
I love You I love You
Before the world rushes in again
I want to stop and say there’s none above You
There’s none above You
I’ll just be still and know You are God
Be still and know You are God
There’s something about the morning
The stillness of it all
It calms my heart to hear You
When You gently call
Here I am in Your presence
Where I long to be
Alone with You in the silence
Bring down Your love and Your mercy
Whisper softly to me

Am I More Important Than You?

Every Thursday night my daughter and I get together with some of our besties and have our super exclusive, no other friends allowed, “Sunshine Sisterhood” meetings. No, it’s not a cult. Promise.

Anyway, tonight our fearless leader, Nonni, shared with us girls that she is feeling led that we need to start doing a service project once a month as part of our Sisterhood meeting.

I’m not gonna lie. Some of us were a bit more excited than others! It’s our one night a week to just relax, and do nothing but laugh together and eat. Now we are being asked to give up one of those nights per month in order to help others!? *gasp* The nerve! Why is she messing with a good thing?!

We all want to help..but on Sisterhood night? That’s sacred! But..why NOT Sisterhood night?

So I get to choose..will I help because I feel condemned if I don’t? Or will I help because it’s what Jesus would want me to do? I’m gonna choose option B.

Gotta keep the priorities straight. Right? This is another opportunity to grow. I had already been making plans to begin volunteering again this fall, so why not start a little early? Is “losing” one of my relaxation nights really more important than encouraging someone in need?

What areas in your life is The Lord prompting you to stretch in? Will you stretch even if it means giving up your “relaxing time? Let’s be honest, it can be easier said than done, but let’s be open to something new. It will be good for us. 🙂

Blessings,

Sarah

Misplaced Priorities
Greg Laurie/Harvest Ministries

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols.
— Acts 17:16

To be able to reach our culture, to be able to reach our unbelieving friends and family, to be able to reach someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus, we must first have a genuine concern for them.

While the apostle Paul was in Athens, “his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols” (Acts 17:16). Another translation of this verse says that Paul “was deeply troubled by all the idols he saw everywhere in the city” (NLT).

Have you been angered by something in a spiritual way? I am talking about righteous indignation where you see how the devil is ripping people off, and you actually get a little angry about it.

In Athens, Paul was grieved to see the absolute absence of the living God, with every conceivable substitute in His place.

Do you ever feel that way as you look at our confused culture? It seems as though anything goes—except for Christianity.

Paul could have cursed the darkness in Athens. But he instead turned on the light.

Today we can wring our hands and talk about the state of affairs in our world. Or we can do something about it. All too often, we Christians are known for what we are against and not what we are for. We are for Jesus. And that is who we want to talk about. That is who we want to point people to. That is the primary message we need to give to our culture today. They need to hear the gospel.

If we dwell on other issues and forget the message of Jesus, then we have misplaced our priorities.

This devotional says it all.  I’d try to add something, but why?  Be blessed, and have a wonderful day!

God is Doing a New Thing: Are You Looking?

By Chris Roberts

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert… (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Our Lord does not bind himself to the expectations of men or to the habits of time. Behold, he is doing a new thing! He is not held by the thickening mud of human tradition, he makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, peace among the wild beasts and sweet water to the people formed for his praise.

The prophet asks, almost incredulously, “Can’t you perceive this thing that he is doing?” Are you so blinded by your set ways that you cannot see the path God lays right before your eyes? Thus it was for the Pharisees, those blind guides who led people into darkness. So hard of heart, they refused to see salvation coming out of Zion, the Holy One of Israel, come to take away the sins of the world. They remained locked in patterns of works and self-righteousness while declaring their own praise. But the God who makes a way in the wilderness, a river in the desert, has brought something new: salvation through the suffering servant.

Do not be like the Pharisee, so consumed with his vision of himself that he was unable to perceive the mighty work of God. Be like the prophet himself, Isaiah, who saw the Lord seated on the throne and could only tremble as the angels cried out, “Holy, holy holy, is the Lord of hosts! The whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isaiah 6:1-6) God has done this great work so that the people would declare his praise (Isaiah 43:21). Christian, give praise to God!
