The 4th of July

Happy Independence Day, friends! Use your freedom for good, honoring those who gave all they had in order for us to have it. Thanks to all who serve/served this beautiful country I love to call home, and to all of the family and friends who support them.

I’ve always posted this clip on Facebook for the 4th, but I don’t use Facebook I will post it here for you instead! I still can’t figure out how to embed videos, so here’s a link:

Let freedom ring!

Blessings & Love,

Happy Memorial Day

I have never been able to think of the day as one of mourning; I have never quite been able to feel that half-masted flags were appropriate on Decoration Day. I have rather felt that the flag should be at the peak, because those whose dying we commemorate rejoiced in seeing it where their valor placed it. We honor them in a joyous, thankful, triumphant commemoration of what they did. — Benjamin Harrison

With love,

Pleasing Him, not Jim

As we start another week, let us all determine to challenge ourselves even more! Starting today with our motivation for doing things. Because, if we aren’t doing things as unto The Lord, then we need not bother doing things at all.

As we focus on pleasing Him, His joy fills us, and overflows out to the world. That joy is like a blanket of Light beaming out from us, eliminating the darkness that once was.

Today’s devo selection:

Do you please God or man?
by Hariette Petersen

Why do you do what you do? Ever wonder what drives you? To serve those you serve? I have. As a mother, I evaluate the advice I give, the help I offer. As a wife, I consider the respect, honor and faithfulness I give my husband. As a friend, I analyze my trustworthiness, my generosity, my tolerance. As a writer, I constantly scrutinize–edit my words, check my spelling, perfect my grammar. Perhaps you are like me, only in another way. You analyze your every effort. You try to please a boss, a spouse, a child. You look to your neighbor’s newly mowed lawn and think you must get out there and mow yours. You see another planting geraniums and head to the nursery to purchase some roses. You listen to someone teach, or preach and feel you must measure up to that person. You hear someone’s testimony and think less or your own. You see others volunteering and serving and you chasten yourself for not doing more. Why?

“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

Our aim must be higher than comparing ourselves to others. When we take stock in our own lives, we need to do so in light of Who we are trying to please. As servants of Christ, our only desire should be that of loving as He loved–because He first loved us. As we evaluate our work, our activity, our speech, our thoughts need rest only in our Lord’s pleasure. Are we living in holiness, in humility, in peace? Are we faithful to His call? Are we serving to gain notoriety, success, or popularity? Or are we doing what we do as a willing and cheerful sacrifice of praise for the righteousness we have in Christ, our risen Lord? God loved us while we were yet sinners. He gave His life that we might have His life within us. In Christ we have all we need to bring glory to Him. May we lay aside our need to please man, and live only to magnify Him and point others to Him.

Praise Brings Victory!

No matter what else is going on, we’ve got to remember to get out of a state of misery, and back into a state of praise. If we are busy offering praise, we don’t have time to wallow in misery. I think this is something we have to consciously do, I don’t believe it will ever just naturally happen 100% of the time. After all, He said in this world we would have trouble! They key, though, is what we do with that trouble. Do we wallow, or do we praise. If we determine to praise, and not give up, or grow faint, we will find ourselves soaring on wings of eagles.

Trouble can’t win against praise! We are more than conquerors! We can do ALL things through Him who gives us strength! There is no weapon that will prosper against us! But we must look up, keep our eyes on Him, and PRAISE!

Today’s selection:

Lord God, Mighty God, Worthy God!
Awesome God!

Your Love for me reaches into Infinite places.

I have nothing to offer but Praise. I Praise for the good times and I Praise for the less than good times. I Praise for the answers I have received and I Praise for the questions that remain. I Praise for the moments I feel Your presence and I Praise for the moments You feel far away.

Today, I know God is always here — in me, as me, for me; rooting and standing for my highest success and guaranteed victory.

Today, I know God, there is only an illusion of need, because You alone are my Source and supply.

Today, I know in the rough places, God is there with me. Today, I know in the tough places, God is there with me. Today, I know, God that every crooked place has been made straight.

Today, I know, God that every road that I have taken; in spite of my intention, errant thinking and disobedience, has led me back to You.

Thank You God!
Thank You God!

To You I offer Praise!

As I lift my hands, I open my mouth to shout “Hallelujah”! Hallelujah to the Omniscient One! Hallelujah to the Great I Am!

Today, I pray that my offering is accepted.
I let it be so and So It Is!
