This devotional by Pastor Osteen was very uplifting to me. I pray it will be for you, too! Let your vision rise higher!

Be All That You Can See
By Joel Osteen

God created us as visual beings. He is a creative God, and He’s given us the ability to create as well. It all starts with what you see in your mind’s eye. Everyone has their own mental picture of the way they see themselves, their family and their future. This picture determines what kind of life you live. If you have an image of success, victory, health, happiness and abundance, you will naturally gravitate toward that. But if you have an image of lack, defeat and mediocrity, that negative mental picture will keep you from God’s best.

Remember, if you’re going to be successful, you have to first see yourself as successful — the way God sees you. According to your faith, it will be done to you.

Faith comes by hearing the Word. That’s why it’s so important to take time every day to study and meditate on God’s promises. Let His truth sink down deeply into your heart. Open your eyes of faith so you can see yourself rising higher. Choose to have a vision of victory and be all that you can see!

Prayer:
Father God, I pray today that You would open the eyes of my heart and reveal Yourself to me. Show me Your ways. Show me Your love. Help me to see myself the way You see me so that I can be all that You have created me to be in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Scripture:
Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” (Matthew 9:29 NKJV)

Dysfunction Junction, What’s Your Function?

20130401-095209.jpg

How was your Easter? If it was like most people’s, it was a day of family dysfunction! ..At least to some degree. Right? Let’s be honest, no one’s family is all peaches and cream all of the time. Why? Because humans are involved!

How is your relationship with our Father God? Well, like I said, you’re human – so it’s guaranteed there is some level of dysfunction in that relationship as well.

It’s been said that how people treat others is a mirror into their soul. If they are cruel to others, it’s because they are cruel to themselves. If they are loving, it’s because they are loving towards themselves, etc..

So maybe today we can all take a look inward, and take inventory of where we are spiritually. The more we work on ourselves, the more *good* function we will bring to our relationships. Yes, there will always be work to do in our relationships with others/ourselves, but we don’t have to accept the invitation to “Dysfunction Junction” anymore! We can all learn to become the light in any situation, with The Lord’s help.

Have a wonderful Monday, friends!

Blessings,

Sarah

Spiritual Dysfunction
By Ivie Bozeman

Matthew 22:37-38 – Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” (NIV)

I had a problem with my ice maker. The repairman responded quickly to my call. He performed the procedure that he thought necessary to get the water flowing. It did not work. He came again and decided my icemaker needed replacing. The next day came — still no ice. This went on for several days, until he found that a tiny valve connecting the water line was not functioning. Replacing this started the water flow. Back we went to the old ice maker, which is now functioning beautifully. This tiny little dysfunction had puzzled us all.

This prompted my thoughts toward “spiritual dysfunction”. Something is not going right in our spiritual lives, but we are at a loss to find the problem. We pray daily, read the Bible, go to church, and feel we are doing everything necessary to show our love for God and for our neighbour, but the spiritual flow is not as it should be.

Could it be that we have a “dysfunction” — just a tiny one, like a little valve — between our professed love for God and our love for our neighbours? Could we have failed to show compassion for someone who lost their job, or have we shown a lack of empathy for our friends going through a divorce? Do we claim to love the weak and vulnerable, but in no way reach out to help them?

Jesus told us that love for God and love for others is inseparable. Are we showing one face to the church and the friends with whom we worship, and another to those who think and act differently? The valve that controls the flow of our spirituality may not be working properly.

Yes, I think that we can become spiritually disconnected. Just as my ice maker had become dysfunctional because of the little valve that was not working, we can become dysfunctional too. Our problems may be harder to locate than the valve on the ice machine, but through prayerful seeking, the problem can be located.

Prayer: Father, help us to take inventory and seek out the problems in our spiritual lives and repair them. Give us a little nudge in the direction we should go. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

You belong

20130227-230828.jpg

I heard a Pastor (Judah Smith) say tonight, “I think the message of Jesus is that you belong, well before you believe or behave.” I thought that was so powerful! He desired us, loved us, and died for us long before we ever believed or came into being..And it wasn’t reliant upon our perfection or belief. He loved us beyond our imperfections, and disbelief.

Even if the world doesn’t value us, He does, and always has. We may not feel like we fit in, like no matter what we do or where we go, what tactics we try, or what pretty masks we put on, that we just don’t belong anywhere. But the good news is, Jesus has noticed you. And not only has He noticed you, He has called you “son”, or “daughter”. He has taken ownership of you, and wants to be close to you.

When the world seems to have thrown you away, take heart, He has never, and will never, throw you away. He desires you beyond anything you could dare dream or imagine. Rest in that knowledge today.

You belong.

Today’s devo selection:

Acceptance – Belonging – Family

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Gal. 3:26-28, TNIV)

Isn’t it exciting that to belong in God’s family, we are accepted unconditionally! He knows we can never ever measure up to what is required to belong. SO, He did it all for us! He wanted us in His family so much, that He came to Earth to pay the penalty of my/your sin! Nothing is required to “belong” except to realize our desperate need. Now, you and I both know who we are and what we’ve done in this life. Can you even begin to comprehend that He would want you/me with Him so badly that He would go through all that??!! My mind simply cannot stop marveling at such LOVE.

Because of HIM you and I are accepted. If you ever feel alone because of people who make demand after demand, and if Jesus is your Lord and Savior…HOLD FAST to this wondrous FACT: You BELONG to Him! People’s opinions fade in comparison.
