Would You Drop Everything?

IMG_2521.PNG

My son and I were nearly killed this morning in traffic. Our lives were spared at the last moment when I felt something physically take my hand on the steering wheel and jerk us quickly to safety in the lane next to us. It was divine intervention. I had my own plans (braking and honking). The Lord had different plans. He saw what I couldn’t see with my own eyes. He saw our lives were in jeopardy and intervened. Some may say, “No, Sarah, those were your reflexes.” I can assure you, there were no reflexes involved. I encounter these situations daily, I wasn’t phased by what was happening (someone running a light and turning in front of me). I was calm and doing what I normally do. It was the Lord who moved us.

I’ve been contemplating the situation all day (as well as a few other situations). Why were we spared? People die everyday. No one person more deserving than the next. What was the Lord trying to show me? I could’ve lost my son. My son could’ve lost me. Our family could’ve lost both of us.

I figured I wasn’t spared so I could sit on the couch and watch tv. ;0) So I decided to get up and get my cleaning done.

While cleaning the bathrooms, I was praying. Who doesn’t! Wait is it just me who does that? :0) Anyway, I wasn’t praying anything in particular, not an organized prayer by any means, no words. More just an open heart to the Holy Spirit..letting Him flow into my heart, soul and mind without barriers. That’s my favorite kind of “prayer”. More of an invitation for His input, I suppose.

I heard Him say these words to my spirit, “If you had to lose everyone and everything dear to you in order to follow Me, would you?”

My first thought was instinctively, “Yes, Lord.”

Then I saw snippets of everyone I love in my life, every thing I have that I hold dear. Every sunny day. Every healthy breath. My family. My best friends. My car. My home. My bed. My dogs. My mind. My abilities.

Again, I hear, “If you had to lose everyone and everything dear to you in order to follow Me, would you?”

Again, with a lump in my throat, “Yes, Father. Even if I have to lose everything, I choose You.”

I ache to my core to think of losing people in order to follow Christ and His will. But if it means He is pleased in me, if it means I get to spend eternity with Him, I will. He is my first love.

I want to encourage you to stay on the path. To keep Him first, even when it hurts. Even when your flesh cries out in anguish and you can’t understand why His way is best. One day it will all make perfect sense, but it doesn’t have to make sense now. We have to be like Simon and Andrew. We need to drop everything, and follow.

When we are standing face to face with the Almighty God, it will all make perfect sense.

I think we were spared today because I needed a reminder that everything here on earth fades, it can be gone in an instant, but He remains.

He’s asking for us to go deeper. To let go of the things we have a death grip on, and refocus our attention on Him. It’s not our agenda that matters, it’s His. We need to make His agenda our agenda.

Thoughts on Provision

20140729-115656-43016787.jpg

We pray for His provision for this or that. And then when He provides, we feel as if we aren’t worthy of the provision, or we aren’t sure if we should accept it. Or, in my case, I accept it but then keep the tags on it for forever just in case I need to return it, or in case a better deal comes along within the return period. I almost always struggle with “buyers remorse” after making a large purchase.

And then there are times with personal provision prayers beng answered. I’m like, “Wait, no that’s not what I asked for, Lord! I asked for freedom from stress but I didn’t mean that I wanted THIS aspect of my life removed!” But what we may not see is that in order for our lives to be less stressful, The Lord needs to remove the stress giver, whatever it or who that may be. We have to be willing to let go of what WAS in order to receive what IS. The scripture, “Behold, I am doing a NEW thing!” comes to mind.

If we ask, we need to be ready to receive. Whether it be a financial need, or a personal need, even a fun vacation you’ve been wanting to take..whatever it may be. Be ready and willing to receive it. No guilt, worry, shame, or trepidation is needed or useful!

Even though it may not look like the type of provision you’ve had in mind, trust that the outcome will be just right. His plans for you far outweigh anything you could hope or dream for yourself.

Blessings,

Sarah

Time to Give Up?

20130823-130800.jpg

The devil wants you to give up. Will you?

You are faced with a choice today. You can either pick up the tools of the Kingdom, or the tools of the enemy. What are these tools? Well, here are a few..

Kingdom tools:

Hope
Perseverance
Joy
Determination
Faith
Love

Enemy tools:

Cynicism
Faithlessness
Hate
Anger
Fear
Doubt

The tools you choose to pick up determine your situation’s outcome. The good news is, if you’ve picked up the wrong tool, it’s not to late to drop it like its hot, and pick up a Kingdom tool!

You were born for greatness – destined for victory! Give God the glory today by picking up Kingdom tools.

Mustard Seeds Have Great Value!

20130624-085312.jpg

It so upsets me when I hear, “Well, they weren’t healed because they didn’t have enough faith.” Or, “Well, if they would’ve had more faith, the situation would have changed.” My question to all of those comments is, what about the power in the mustard seed of faith?

“..I tell you this: if you had even a faint spark of faith, even faith as tiny as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and because of your faith, the mountain would move. If you had just a sliver of faith, you would find nothing impossible.” – Matthew 17:20

The Lord I know doesn’t demand our faith to be perfect before He arrives on the scene. The Lord I know says to come to him with child like faith. Now I know we usually take that as face value..little kids have faith because, in general, they’ve never had a reason not to. But, is that the whole story here?

Have you ever seen a child’s faith level?

The best part about a child’s faith is that it’s raw and honest in how frail it is. On one hand a child will have total faith that as long as they’re holding your hand, they are safe from getting hurt crossing the road. But put a child on a bike with no training wheels for the first time, and that faith has instantly dwindled to but a mustard seed. You’re saying, “I won’t let go of the bike until you’re ready, I promise!” And the child is screaming, “Don’t let go, I JUST KNOW YOU’RE GONNA LET GOOOO!!! I’m gonna fall! I’m gonna get hurt! I can’t do this!” Yet, again, they do have a mustard seed of faith in that situation. Because they believe that as long as you are holding onto that bike, they will be ok.

He’s not asking for perfection, he’s asking for authenticity. He meets us where we are at. That means when our faith is tiny like a mustard seed, He is with us. And when our faith is so huge that it rushes like a mighty wind, He’s there too!

Don’t doubt the Holy Spirit power inside of you. As you begin to stretch and plump up your faith muscle, you’ll notice less of the mustard seed days, and more of the mighty wind of faith days. Regardless, you can move mountains! So get out there and start moving things!

Have a beautiful day!

You are blessed,

Sarah

Done As You Have Believed
By Joseph Prince

Matthew 8:13
13Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

What are you expecting God to do for you today? Do you believe that God will respond according to your expectation? When Jairus, distraught at the sickness that was claiming his daughter’s life, fell at Jesus’ feet, he entreated Jesus to personally come to his house to lay His hands on his daughter so that she would be healed. (Mark 5:23)

But do you know that Jesus can heal at a distance? He didn’t need to go to Jairus’ house to heal his daughter. Still, Jesus went and didn’t even chide Jairus for his little faith. He met Jairus’ expectation — his little daughter was raised from the dead that day. (Mark 5:41–42)

Why do I say that Jairus had little faith? Because there was a Roman centurion who came to Jesus about his servant suffering at home. He recognized the power Jesus had and asked only that Jesus “speak a word, and my servant will be healed”. (Matthew 8:8) Jesus told him, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” True to the centurion’s expectation, his servant was healed that same hour.

My friend, there is no particular level your faith must reach before God gives you what you are asking for. Your faith does not initiate God’s giving. He has already given to you all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3) His blessings are pressing on you already! Regardless of the level of faith you are at, He will respond. Jairus needed Jesus to go to his house to lay His hands on his daughter, and Jesus did. The centurion only needed Jesus to speak a word for his servant to be healed, and Jesus did. He met both their expectations.

My friend, don’t fix your eyes on how much or how little faith you have. Fix your eyes on the One who loves you, who has already given you what you need. When you come to Him, simply believe that He is waiting to meet your expectation. He will say to you, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.”
