We Are People of Value

I believe that if we can realize how valuable we are, we will then begin to see the value in others as well. It really doesn’t matter how different we are from each other, or whether or not we feel our “level of sins” match, etc. What matters is loving and valuing others as He has loved and valued us. Our Father KNOWS us. Every little part of us (eek!), and He STILL finds us to be of immense and immeasurable value (yay!)! We should offer that same attitude to ourself, and others. Start today!

Today’s Devo selection:

How Much Am I Worth?
Today’s devotion was found at: http://www.dare2share.org/devotions/

Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31)

How many times are we ‘down in the dumps’ and feeling pretty worthless because of circumstances beyond our control? Life can sometimes be unbeatable, but other times it gives us a ‘beatdown’.

Perhaps this week you know exactly what I mean.

Good thing our worth isn’t based on our circumstances or behavior, if it were I would have zero hope. Check out this story and see if speaks to your heart.

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?”

Hands started going up.

He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first let me do this.”

He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, “Who still wants it?” Still the hands were up in the air.

“Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty.

“Now who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.

“My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value in God’s eyes. To Him, dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to Him. Psalm 17:8 states that God will keep us ‘as the apple of His eye.'”

The worth of our lives come not in what we do or who we are, but by WHOSE WE ARE!

Questions:
-Who or what determines how good you feel about yourself?
-Have you ‘checked in’ with God lately with your issues and problems? Why or why not?
-What is one way you could show your thankfulness to God for His love this week?
